Thuraya Prepaid SIM cards migrated to a new prepaid plan.

In order to unify its prepaid offering, Thuraya has changed their prepaid model on Sunday 10 May. The new prepaid plan offers simplicity and transparency with flat pricing across the Thuraya coverage area.

This new prepaid tariff structure applies to Thuraya prepaid subscribers using the following prepaid SIM cards:

  • Thuraya basic prepaid SIM
  • Thuraya Classical prepaid SIM
  • Thuraya Super SIM
  • Traveler SIM
  • Africa SIM

All these cards have been replaced by the new Thuraya Prepaid SIM card plan on the above-mentioned date.

ThurayaECO, PCO/Payphone and Thuraya Maritime prepaid SIM Cards remain unchanged until further notice.

Thuraya Prepaid SIM card plan pricing
Retail prices in USD:

  • Minute rate on-net (voice, data and fax): Thuraya to Thuraya $0.99/min
  • Minute rate off-net (voice, data and fax): Thuraya to other networks (PSTN) $1.49/min
  • Minute rate off-net: Thuraya to other satellite networks
  • (Globalstar, Inmarsat B, Inmarsat M, Inmarsat Mini-M) $4.99
  • Minute rate off-net: Thuraya to other satellite networks and exotic destinations (Inmarsat BGAN, Inmarsat M4, Iridium, Montserrat, Kiribati, etc) $8.00 
  • SMS Charge $0.49/message
  • Annual Renewal fee (1 year validity extension)$39
  • Charging increment 60 sec

Thuraya prepaid SIM card terms and conditions
The terms and conditions have been aligned in order to unify the Thuraya prepaid offering.

  • SIM includes $10 initial credit.
  • Initial account validity is one year, effective from the first call made.
  • First call must be made within 6 months after date of activation, otherwise SIM card will be deactivated.
  • SIM card validity can be extended by a year subject to payment of annual renewal fee.
  • Credit refill can be topped up with the standard Thuraya scratch cards.
  • Renewal fee is waived for heavy users making more than $1,500 worth of satellite calls.
